Tech CU Named One of Silicon Valley’s Most Philanthropic Companies and a Family Friendly Workplace; Wins Three International MarCom Awards for its Advertising Campaign, Website and Annual Report
SAN JOSE, CA–(Marketwired – November 01, 2016) – Tech CU (Technology Credit Union) today announced that it was named one of Silicon Valley’s most philanthropic companies by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, received a certificate of recognition for being a family friendly workplace and won three MarCom Awards: platinum for its Bank Happily Ever After advertising campaign and honorable mentions for its redesigned website and annual report.
Each year, the Silicon Valley Business Journal compiles a list of the top 50 most philanthropic companies in the region — with Tech CU making the list for the second year in a row. In 2015, Tech CU donated more than $126,000 in cash and performed 220 volunteer hours — in addition to the more than $1.3 million the credit union has invested in Bay Area communities since 2007.
“Community involvement is a key part of Tech CU’s philosophy and mission. Every year, we work to address and makes change to our community’s most pressing issues by investing time, talent, and dollars,” said Todd Harris, CEO of Tech CU. “We’re proud to be recognized as one of the most generous companies in Silicon Valley, an area with many philanthropic endeavors and foundations, and look forward to continuing this legacy in the years to come.”
Tech CU was also honored with a certificate of recognition for being a family friendly workplace in Santa Clara County by the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and the Office of Women’s Policy (OWP). The award recognizes employers who have implemented family friendly policies that address the realities of working families, including pregnancy accommodations and parental leave, lactation accommodations and work-life balance. “Creating a family friendly work environment is a core part of who we are,” said Jeannine Jacobsen, EVP and Chief Operating Officer. “We know that working parents and caregivers need flexibility in this day and age to succeed as employees while remaining available to their families. In addition to a generous maternity/paternity leave, we offer flexible work schedules, yoga classes on site, and health and wellness support services. We are pleased that this award recognizes these efforts.”
Lastly, Tech CU was honored with three MarCom Awards. The company received Platinum for its “Bank Happily Ever After” advertising campaign, and Honorable Mentions for both its redesigned website and annual report. An international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals, the MarCom Award winners are selected from among more than 6,000 entries hailing from over 30 countries. Judging was conducted by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). A complete list of Platinum winners can be found on the MarCom Awards website.
“We are thrilled to have won these three awards. Our advertising campaign, “Bank Happily Ever After,” addresses consumers’ pain points with big banks. Tech CU is large enough to provide all the access and convenience of a big bank, and small enough to offer exceptional, personalized service,” said Kate Duggan, Tech CU’s SVP of Marketing. “We were also honored for our annual report, whose theme, Reinvention, is in a sense what all of these wins praised. We spent 2015 and much of 2016 working to improve our member experience. As part of that, we completely redesigned our website — ensuring that our members have a great online experience — making it more convenient, accessible and intuitive.”
“I also want to congratulate the teams who have worked hard on our advertising program, new website and annual report,” added Harris.
