Greenlight Empowers Families to Help Teens Become Confident Drivers with New Driving Safety Tools
Driving scores, reports, and real-time alerts now available in the Greenlight Infinity plan
ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Greenlight®, the award-winning money and safety app for families, today announced the launch of industry-first driving safety tools designed for families to help teens become more confident drivers. Driving scores, reports, and real-time alerts are now included in the Greenlight Infinity plan.
Kids and teens learn many life skills as they grow into adulthood from managing money to driving a car to working their first job. Driving is a key milestone teens anticipate on their journey to independence — Greenlight teens’ #1 most popular savings goal is a car and they collectively saved more than $9 million towards their first vehicle last year alone. Yet, teen driving continues to be a source of anxiety for families and distracted driving is on the rise — nine out of ten teens admit to using their phone while driving.
Greenlight’s new driving safety tools offer families an easy, convenient way to empower teens to develop safe driving habits and stay connected on the road. Key features include:
- Driving scores: Every trip is scored from 1-100, motivating teens to track their scores and aim to improve with each drive. Scores are calculated based on the amount of unsafe driving actions, like phone usage or speeding, and reported at the end of every trip.
- Real-time trip alerts: Family members can follow their teens’ trip status for peace of mind. They’ll be notified when the trip starts and ends and be alerted in real-time of any unsafe driving actions that may occur.
- Personalized trip insights: After every trip, parents and teens receive a deep dive report highlighting the trip timeline, route, driving score, and more.
- Weekly driving reports: Families can track driving habits together over time with weekly reports that celebrate teens’ progress and provide ways to improve so teens can become safe, confident drivers.
“At Greenlight, we’re focused on building an all-in-one money and safety hub that helps parents raise their kids and teach them essential life skills,” said Tim Sheehan, co-founder and CEO at Greenlight. “With driving scores, reports, and real-time alerts, parents now have another powerful tool to help their teens stay safe as they grow into adulthood.”
Greenlight’s new driving safety tools are included in Greenlight Infinity, the company’s most comprehensive subscription plan with a robust suite of family finance and safety features. With Greenlight Infinity, families can access family location sharing, SOS alerts, crash detection with 911 dispatch, and now driving scores, reports, and real-time trip alerts, alongside financial tools for earning, saving, spending, and investing — all in the Greenlight app.
