Fintech billionaire wolf whistles during meeting to address sexism
Satire and fintech… they can come dangerously close
The career of an elderly billionaire lies in tatters after he decided that a meeting to address sexism in the fintech industry was the right time to wolf whistle at the crowd and boast about his sexual exploits.
David Blooperman, CEO and founder of identity and internet of things service provider ID-IOT, was invited to a panel at the London conference, “Fintech in the 21st century – not the previous one”.
Unfortunately, all his expertise in fintech was not revealed during the panel discussion and another side of his persona was unleashed.
Along with the wolf whistling, Blooperman called himself a “player”. This initially was seen as a comment on his major role in fintech, but this impression was soon dispelled after he proceeded to reel off his sexual conquests via a small black book. A sure sign of insecurity. Which is doubly ironic as according to ID-IOT’s website its products are “famed for their compelling and innovative security”.
After realising his errors, and because the moderator had tried to strangle him, Blooperman apologised and put the incident down to nerves and misjudging the situation. The moderator offered a view that “maybe you’re a prat?”. Blooperman declined to comment. He probably wished he had declined to comment throughout the entire panel discussion.
Banking Technology, always keen to provide more background to a story, contacted his wife Jane Blooperman for an exclusive interview.
Jane Blooperman says: “He’s all talk, no action really. The talk of being a ‘player’ is laughable – unless he means card games. Put it this way, he uses an elastic band and two peanut shells as a jockstrap; and my nickname for him is ‘Microsoft’.”
David Blooperman has since resigned from the advisory board on sexism in the industry. He is now working on creating a time machine – so he can travel back to the 1970s.
