Leukert leaves NYSE for FIS after just one year
Peter Leukert has left NYSE Euronext after just 15 months as global chief information officer to join banking and payments technology firm FIS.
Prior to joining NYSE Euronext Leukert was CIO of Germany’s Commerzbank. He co-led the integration of Dresdner Bank into Commerzbank, which was completed in May 2011. Leukert also served as a partner at McKinsey & Company’s centre of competence for business technology in Frankfurt, where he focused on IT and operations management for financial services and capital markets.
In his new role, he will also lead the Capco Institute, which focuses on provocative debate between academics, regulators and market participants. FIS has said that it chose Leukert because of his expertise dealing with IT and his ability to relate that knowledge to the challenges currently facing the global financial services sector.
“Large global institutions seek expert partners to help them innovate and transform,” said Rob Heyvaert, corporate executive vice presidence at FIS and chief executive at Capco. “Peter’s experience will be a critical differentiator in helping the C-suite of our global clients tackle the complex transformational challenges that they currently face. Peter is clearly able to couple the power of FIS solutions and processing with the deep financial consulting expertise of Capco.”
FIS claims to be the world’s largest global provider dedicated to banking and payments technologies. The company currently serves 14,000 institutions in 100 countries. Headquartered in the US, FIS employs 35,000 people worldwide.
