Bank of Bhutan in core banking tech modernisation with TCS
Bank of Bhutan has embarked on a large-scale technology transformation programme with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The bank will implement the TCS Bancs Global Banking Platform.
Bank of Bhutan is the oldest bank in the country, with its history dating back to 1968. Today, it is the largest commercially owned bank in Bhutan, with 400,000 customers and a network of 45 branches and 84 ATMs.
It has been a customer of TCS since 2016, when it replaced its legacy Flexcube core banking system from Oracle FS with TCS Bancs.
Now, with the implementation of the TCS Bancs Global Banking Platform, the bank will gain “access to an extensive set of components across the banking and payments sector such as customer deposits, loan management, retail services, trade finance, pricing, and other functions”, the vendor says.
“It will also seamlessly integrate with the various public services within the digital ecosystem of the country,” according to TCS.
Dorji Kadin, CEO of Bank of Bhutan, says the project is in line with the country-wide digitisation and digital currency initiatives that are underway in Bhutan.
“The solution will also serve as a platform for future programmes such as the implementation of AI technologies across operational workflows to boost productivity,” Kadin adds.
