London-based paytech Trust Payments has named former American Express exec Laurence Booth as its new CEO, succeeding the company’s long-time CEO Daniel Holden.
Booth has served as interim CEO at Trust Payments since September 2024. He first joined the company in 2021 and has since held key roles including chief data officer (CDO) and chief information officer (CIO).
Founded in 1997, Trust Payments, which holds an Authorised Payment Institution (API) licence from the UK’s FCA, operates a payments platform that connects to over 50 global banks, supporting multi-acquirer processing.
The firm offers a suite of services including online and mobile payments, POS and ePOS systems, inventory management, self-checkout solutions, and payment analytics.
According to a company statement, Booth’s appointment follows a “robust and competitive evaluation process carried out by the board with support from international search advisers”.
Commenting on the appointment, Sir Mike Rake, independent senior non-executive director, states that Booth “laid out a compelling roadmap for the future of the business” and “has demonstrated a consistent focus on shareholder value”.
Jakob Lindquist, chair of Trust Payments, adds that Booth was the “unanimous” choice for the role due to his “deep and extensive knowledge of the paytech sector”.
Booth brings more than 20 years of experience in payments and financial services to his new role. He previously spent over 16 years at American Express, beginning in 2001 on a graduate scheme and advancing to vice president of data strategy, analytics, and new product development.
