BCP to invest $650m in cloud modernisation drive with Microsoft and Kyndryl
Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP) is set to invest more than $650 million to modernise its internal systems with hybrid cloud technology over the next five years through partnerships with Microsoft and IT infrastructure services provider Kyndryl.
The Lima-headquartered bank, owned by Credicorp Group, will use Microsoft Azure to create a hybrid computing environment in collaboration with Kyndryl, which the companies say in a statement will “enable the modernisation of the bank’s IT application environment and improve the agility and availability of its digital channels”.
As Peru’s largest bank with $47.14 billion in assets, BCP’s digital channels currently support the delivery of a wide variety of financial offerings, including retail and corporate banking, insurance, and pension services.
The bank describes its plan as “one of the largest technology investments in Latin America’s financial services sector”, intended to culminate in a “smoother and faster online and mobile experience” for customers.
“Our purpose is to serve as allies to our customers to help them transform their plans into reality, understanding that financial inclusion provides opportunities for growth,” explains Diego Cavero, CEO of BCP. “Digitalisation can help close the gap,” he adds.
