Scottish paytech BR-DGE names Chun Ong as new COO
BR-DGE, a payment orchestration services provider based in Scotland, has appointed former WorldRemit exec Chun Ong as its new chief operating officer (COO).
In his new position, Ong will lead efforts to scale operations and “improve cross-functional collaboration”, according to a statement.
Additionally, he will be responsible for overseeing “customer success, customer support, implementation and data functions of the business”.
Founded in 2018, BR-DGE claims to serve as a “technology anchor-point”, enabling financial institutions, merchants and payment providers to tap into payment tools and offerings via a single integration.
BR-DGE’s modular platform is said to connect with over 400 payment methods and partner solutions, including Mastercard, PayPal, Trustly and Visa, among others.
In 2023, the Edinburgh-headquartered company was reported to be the first to deploy Visa Instalments with a UK merchant and also launched BR-DGE Vault, its proprietary offering for network tokenisation.
Ong is expected to bring extensive operational leadership experience from global fintechs to his new role as COO of BR-DGE.
He most recently served as COO at Dubai-based open banking fintech Tarabut Gateway for just under a year. Before that, he spent two years serving the same position for UK lendtech Molo, was VP of customer insights and operations at WorldRemit, and also worked as an independent consultant for global money transfer firm Wise.
