Alexandra MacMahon named new ING UK country manager
Former Santander exec Alexandra MacMahon has been named as the new country manager for ING’s wholesale business in the UK, effective Q1 2025.
MacMahon succeeds Malgorzata Kolakowska, who has led ING UK since 2018, and will retain her position as a supervisory board member of ING Bank in Poland.
The new country manager will take charge of a business ING says services more than 60% of the FTSE 100 with lending, advisory, global capital markets and transaction services, as well as its supporting team of almost 750 staff.
She has been tasked with overseeing the growth of ING’s wholesale banking client base in the UK, and will serve “a crucial role in shaping ING’s commercial strategy”, according to the bank.
With over 30 years of experience, MacMahon most recently served as head of Santander UK Corporate and Investment Bank since January 2023.
Her career also includes senior leadership positions at leading firms such as Citi, Calyon, and Morgan Stanley.
ING’s latest hire follows its appointment of former UniCredit executive Daniele Tonella to CTO in July, while last month, Ignacio Juliá transitioned from ING to become the new CEO of Santander Spain.
