BNKA launches new payments function for LATAM migrants in Europe
BNKA, a multicurrency wallet service for Latin American migrants in Europe, has introduced new payment functionalities through its mobile app.
The development enables users in Europe to pay for basic services, such as electric, water and gas bills, in their countries of origin.
“The update allows migrants to manage their payments quickly and securely, eliminating the need to contact third parties or coordinate with family members to make payments in their place,” a translation of the company’s statement reads.
Argentina has been unveiled as the first country to debut this functionality, with BNKA now looking to “continue expanding its services to cover more countries”, including Peru, Colombia, Brazil and the US.
“We know that one of the main concerns of migrants is maintaining the accounts of their homes in Latin America, and many times they are becoming a complicated task due to the distance and access barriers,” explains Martín Moro, head of marketing at BNKA.
“With this update, we are simplifying a process that could previously be cumbersome, allowing our users to concentrate on their day to day without worrying about managing payments in their home countries.”
Launched in 2023 and based in Barcelona, BNKA provides bank accounts, currency exchange and blockchain-powered cross-border payment services, and currently operates throughout Argentina and Europe with 25,000 active users according to Tekios.
