Egypt’s Commercial International Bank names Tony Prestedge as executive board advisor
The Commercial International Bank (CIB), one of the largest private sector banks in Egypt, has hired “veteran transformation banker” Tony Prestedge as an executive advisor to its board of directors.
CIB says its new advisor brings “senior level banking experience in the development and execution of strategic reviews across large organisations and corporate governance” to the position.
Prestedge previously served as a group board member, executive director and deputy CEO of Nationwide Building Society, where he was noted for his leadership of group strategy and sustainability, digital transformation, channel and project management, and venturing.
He later moved to Santander UK, where as deputy chief executive and executive director, he took charge of the bank’s private banking and consumer finance businesses.
Leveraging these experiences, Prestedge is expected to “accelerate CIB’s transformation from traditional financial services into simple and accessible solutions for its customers”, the bank’s statement reads.
Upon joining CIB, Prestedge will relinquish his current standing at London-headquartered management and technology consultancy Capco, where he has served as global head of banking and payments since March this year.
In announcing its new advisor, CIB also disclosed the appointment of Neveen Sabbour to non-executive chair, and the reappointment of Hisham Ezz Al-Arab to CEO and board member.
“These appointments are the result of a comprehensive process the Board of Directors undertook to select a new CEO to lead the bank’s multifaceted business transformation and continue its programme to support recognised potential future leaders,” says CIB.
