Former Capital One VP Fouzi Husaini joins Marqeta as chief AI officer
US-based card issuing platform Marqeta has named Fouzi Husaini as its new chief artificial intelligence officer.
In his new role, Husaini has been tasked with “scaling Marqeta’s AI organisation”, leveraging his more than 25 years of experience to enhance “purchasing power for all by reducing risk and improving consumer and commercial rewards, while also helping accelerate our pace of innovation”.
Randy Kern, chief product and technology officer at Marqeta, says Husaini’s “deep knowledge of AI and machine learning, combined with decades of on-the-ground AI leadership at top companies, will be instrumental in shaping our technology roadmap and leveraging AI to expand our capabilities in transaction intelligence, fraud prevention, and customer service”.
Before joining Marqeta, Husaini was the VP of machine learning engineering at Capital One for two years. Prior to that, he spent over nine years at Amazon, where he led multi-disciplinary teams of data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and technical programme managers.
Husaini’s appointment comes as Marqeta places greater emphasis on AI and machine learning features within its platform. Last year, the company announced its initial investments in generative AI, including Marqeta Docs AI, an AI-powered Q&A tool.
