Global Payments names Robert Cortopassi as new president and chief operating officer
Global Payments, a US payments technology and software solutions provider, has promoted Robert “Bob” Cortopassi to the position of president and chief operating officer (COO), effective immediately.
Previously, Cortopassi acted as Global Payments’ senior EVP and president of international and vertical markets, where he managed multinational commerce, global product operations, vertical market software businesses, and international merchant acquiring.
Cortopassi first joined Global Payments in 2012 following its acquisition of Accelerated Payment Technologies (APT), where he served as a senior VP responsible for marketing, technology, product, and operations.
Regarding Cortopassi’s promotion, Cameron Bready, head of Global Payments, says “Bob is a proven, growth-oriented leader and trusted colleague with an exceptional track record managing key businesses across our organisation during his 12-year tenure at the company”.
Bready himself served as the paytech’s COO for over three years before becoming CEO last year.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Global Payments recently acquired UK-based card payment solutions provider Takepayments in June as it looks to tap the UK’s merchant base and further establish its card payment solutions.
In 2022, the company also made headlines with a reported $4 billion all-cash purchase of paytech firm EVO Payments.
