US fintech start-up Estu launches new financial services app for students
Boston-based fintech Estu has introduced a new mobile financial services app aiming to enhance the “student life experience”.
The start-up says the app comprises financial, social and academic functionalities to provide students with a “personalised financial service” and enabling them to receive payment notifications, pay tuition directly and conduct fund transfers.
Moreover, the new service will also offer capabilities such as P2P transfers, contactless payments via Apple Pay, checking accounts, and ACH, wire, domestic and international transfers.
The banking services within Estu’s offering will be provided by Memphis-headquartered Evolve Bank & Trust.
Estu claims its app “emphasises students’ social lives” and will thus offer access to “exclusive events”.
This includes providing users with discounts for tech gadgets, books, music, concert tickets, and more, through the start-up’s established partnerships with companies like Amazon, Best Buy and Ticketmaster.
To ensure “academic efficiency”, Estu also sports a scheduling tool which syncs a student’s schedule with their phone calendars, sending alerts and reminders for classes, social events and assignments.
Estu founder and chief visionary officer, Raul Wald, states his ambition for the new service to “replace the current financial system and university student IDs to take care of a student’s financial life”.
“Our mission is to make student life across the country more economical through financial services, more enjoyable through exclusive experiences and less time-consuming through our integration,” he comments.
