Firstcard Announces $10,000 Student Scholarship to Empower Future Leaders
PALO ALTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Firstcard, a fintech startup building a better credit card for students, is excited to announce the launch of the Firstcard $10,000 Student Scholarship, a new initiative designed to empower students in their academic and financial journey. This scholarship reflects Firstcard’s commitment to helping students succeed in their financial journey.
The scholarship is open to active Firstcard customers, who are current full-time students attending U.S. colleges. Firstcard will award a total of $10,000 to five student recipients. One student recipient will receive $7,500; one student recipient will receive $1,000; and three student recipients will each receive $500.
Firstcard has always been passionate about creating opportunities that align with its mission to help students successfully navigate their financial future. Understanding the financial challenges associated with higher education, Firstcard has designed this scholarship to alleviate some of the monetary burdens that can hinder bright young minds. The scholarship aims to support students in achieving their dreams by addressing the rising costs of tuition, books, and living expenses.
The Firstcard $10,000 Student Scholarship is open to international students, unlike many other scholarship programs that are restricted to U.S. citizens. “We recognize the unique challenges, such as higher tuition fees and limited financial resources, faced by international students,” said Ma Qing, Chief Marketing Officer at Firstcard. “When I was an international student, there were very few funding sources available. I wanted to apply for scholarships, but the opportunities were limited. By including international students in our scholarship program, we ensure that they are not left behind and have the support they need to succeed, just like local students do.”
The Firstcard $10,000 Student Scholarship does not require any essays or specific GPA requirements. Firstcard focuses on the potential and aspirations of students, rather than just their past academic performance.
To apply, students can submit an application here. Applications are due on September 30, 2024. Firstcard will randomly select five applicants from the pool of submissions to receive the scholarship awards. Each individual is eligible to be selected only once. The recipients of the Firstcard Scholarship will be announced as follows:
- Three recipients of the $500 scholarship will be announced on October 1st, 2024.
- One recipient of the $1,000 scholarship will be announced on October 15th, 2024.
- One recipient of the $7,500 scholarship will be announced on October 31st, 2024.
