Stanbic Bank Kenya set for Temenos core banking upgrade with Orion Innovation
Stanbic Bank Kenya, a full-service bank operating under South Africa’s Standard Bank Group, is upgrading its Temenos core with the help of the Swiss vendor’s regional implementation partner Orion Innovation.
As part of its core modernisation effort, the deal will see Orion upgrade the bank’s Temenos Transact application from R17 to the newer R23 cloud-based digital banking platform.
It also plans to migrate from the system’s older proprietary application framework, TAFC, to its newer Java-based application framework, TAFJ, which is recognised for its portability, scalability and robust performance.
The project will involve over 90 integrations and more than 6,000 local code conversions, with Stanbic Bank Kenya hoping to “accelerate the project timeline” by making use of Orion’s test automation tools and services.
Stanbic Bank Kenya first went live with Temenos’ core banking tech in 2010, after previously leveraging Kindle Banking Systems’ Bankmaster.
Alex Siboe, head of technology at Stanbic Bank Kenya, says its latest upgrade with Temenos “fits into our digital transformation journey” and will enable the bank to “enhance our operational efficiency” and offer new services to customers to meet their “evolving needs in today’s digital era”.
