Tide names former SVP George Schmidt as new regional CEO for UK and Europe
London-based business banking platform Tide has promoted its former senior VP of marketing, George Schmidt, to the position of regional CEO of the UK and Europe.
Commenting on the appointment, Tide’s global CEO Dr Oliver Prill states that Schmidt has played a key role in helping the company achieve a “10% market share in the UK” during his tenure leading the firm’s Acquisition Marketing team.
Top of the to-do list for Schmidt, who started at Tide in 2017 as a marketing consultant, will be to oversee the company’s launch in Germany – the firm’s first step into Continental Europe.
In a post on LinkedIn, Prill explains that Tide intends to initiate the company’s expansion into the German market by first introducing its business account and card offerings, followed by a gradual rollout of full platform capabilities in a “step-by-step” manner.
Tide’s new regional CEO previously co-founded Arden & Schmidt, an IT solutions firm specialising in clinical research, where he worked for seven years.
Following this, Schmidt assumed marketing leadership roles at various companies. Notably, he served as a marketing and CRM consultant at Bellabeat and ascended to the role of digital marketing and e-commerce lead at beauty firm L’Occitane en Provence.
