Lloyds Banking Group partners ApTap for bill management tool
Lloyds Banking Group has partnered with ApTap to help Halifax and Lloyds Bank mortgage customers better manage their household bills.
The UK fintech’s bill management tool will be made available through the Home Wise and HelloHome mortgage hubs on the Lloyds Bank and Halifax mobile banking apps, which currently enable customers to view their estimated property value and calculate the impact of making overpayments on their mortgage.
The tool will provide insights into the cost of users’ broadband, energy and mobile phone contracts, and also enables users to request to switch provider should they find cheaper plans.
London-based ApTap, which launched in 2018, previously extended its billing technology to former Lloyds division TSB Bank in 2021, to help its customers better manage their subscriptions, following a pilot which it claims saved customers an average of £150 a year.
It is not the first time the fintech has enjoyed links with Lloyds, as it is an alumni of the the group’s five-month Launch innovation programme, which serves as a testing ground for specific value propositions, which it completed last year.
Carolyne Gregory, head of product management (homes) for Lloyds Banking Group, predicts that the ability to manage household bills can help users generate savings of “hundreds of pounds a year”, and that its new partnership seeks to make this endeavour “much easier”.
Will Billingsley, co-founder and CEO of ApTap, adds that the mutual focus of its latest partnership will be “on helping customers make the right decision for their specific situation”.
