BNY Mellon names Gary Delaney as new international CISO
US banking giant BNY Mellon has appointed Gary Delaney as its new international chief information security officer (CISO).
Delaney, who will be based in Dublin, will report to Matthew McCormack, CISO at BNY Mellon, who leads the bank’s Information Security Division, responsible for the protection of its clients’ assets.
McCormack says Delaney “brings a depth of experience” in cybersecurity and resilience to the role, adding that resilience “is a key objective in our work today and has been for 240 years”.
Most recently, Delaney served as CISO at the Bank of Ireland (BOI) for over four years. Before that, he held several senior tech roles at AIB Group, including head of technical architecture and head of cybersecurity transformation.
Established in 1784, BNY Mellon claims to be the US’ oldest bank and the first company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
As of 31 December 2023, the bank says it has custodial control of $47.8 trillion in assets and $2 trillion in assets under management.
