US fintech Talus Pay acquires Jobox and Clarus Merchant Services
Texas-based Talus Pay, which provides payment processing services for small and medium-sized businesses, has acquired two fintech companies – Jobox and Clarus Merchant Services.
Financial terms of both the acquisitions were not disclosed.
Jobox, founded in 2016 and based in Florida, operates a mobile app that enables home service professionals across the US to book jobs and manage their businesses from their phones and tablets. Its features include job matching, scheduling, payments, customer service and inventory management, among others. It claims to have processed more than $1 billion in transaction volume.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Maryland, Clarus Merchant Services provides integrated B2B payment solutions and claims to process more than $2 billion in annual card volume.
Together with Jobox and Clarus, Talus Pay claims it now processes more than $9 billion in annual payments volume for over 22,000 merchant customers across the US.
Talus Pay CEO Kim Fitzsimmons says: “Adding Jobox and Clarus gives us additional proprietary software and scale in complimentary business-to-business industry verticals.”
With Jobox’s technology, Talus Pay aims to foray into new verticals such as auto repair, beauty, hospitality, non-profit and service retail, in a bid to increase its market share.
“Clarus has deep and trusted expertise in a wide range of business-to-business verticals, credit unions, wholesale distribution groups, and building materials distribution companies,” Talus Pay says in a statement, citing customer care, pricing points and cardholder security as some of the reasons behind the acquisition.
As part of the acquisitions, Eric Pottebaum, president of Clarus, will join Talus Pay’s leadership team as general manager of its Clarus portfolio. Shay Bloch, co-founder and CEO of Jobox, has been appointed as Talus Pay’s chief strategy officer and Kaushik Pendurthi, also from Jobox, has been named chief technology officer.
Talus Pay is a portfolio company of A&M Capital Partners.
