Dutch neobank Bunq launches self-built GenAI platform for customers
Dutch challenger Bunq, the second largest neobank in Europe, has launched a new generative AI (GenAI) platform for customers called Finn.
Bunq says Finn essentially replaces the search function on its app, allowing users to ask questions or seek advice regarding their bank accounts, savings, spending habits, budgeting, financial planning, transactions and more.
It claims the offering is its “own technology” and was built with “the most powerful” large language models (LLMs), giving it the ability to answer advanced customer questions. The neobank also says Finn can combine data “to answer questions that go beyond transactions”, claiming that the launch makes Bunq the first AI-powered bank in Europe.
The news comes as Bunq claims to have crossed 11 million users across the EU, growing its user deposits by 55% since July this year to €7 billion. The challenger has also launched new features for digital nomads and international businesses, including free credit cards for all and Apple Tap to Pay functionality, allowing every business user to turn their iPhone into a payment terminal.
Back in July, the neobank raised an additional €44.5 million funding to fuel its international expansion. In April, the firm applied for a US banking licence with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in New York as it looks to expand its services to all 50 states.
