BCFC launches lending app in Bahrain powered by Codebase Technologies and Atyaf eSolutions
Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company (BCFC) has tapped Codebase Technologies and Atyaf eSolutions to power its new cloud-based credit and lending app, Sahel.
The launch of the app comes after the three-way partnership between the Bahrain-based financial institution, the open API banking solution provider and the digital web development agency was first announced back in August 2022.
BCFC says Sahel will enable its customers to apply for credit cards, virtual cards, loans and insurance, as well as manage repayments and view their transaction history, among other features.
Powering the offering is Codebase’s Digibanc platform, which is to be deployed in a cloud-hosted environment managed by Atyaf eSolutions, and will service the app with digital onboarding, eKYC and facial recognition technology.
The use of cloud technology will enable the app to utilise third-party API integrations, which BCFC says will grant it “an unprecedented level of agility”.
Commenting on the launch of Sahel, Abdulla Bukhowa, CEO of BCFC, says the app represents “a pivotal milestone in both our company’s journey and the broader landscape of digital financial services in the Kingdom of Bahrain”.
Codebase has secured a string of industry partnerships in the Middle East this year, including deals with Capital Bank of Jordan, UAE-based Ajman Bank and Network International.
Speaking on its partnership with BCFC, Tamer Al Mauge, MENA managing director at Codebase, says the institution “showed great leadership and foresight by adopting a modern approach to digital services development”, and claims that tapping its Digibanc platform “positions it in a great place to lead the market and ensure their innovative capabilities are future-proofed”.
