Former Marqeta SVP Jeff Parker joins Paymentology as new CEO
UK-based issuer-processor Paymentology has named Jeff Parker as its new CEO with immediate effect.
Parker succeeds interim co-CEOs Abe Smith and Angy Watson, who have led the company for the last seven months during its search for a permanent replacement for former CEO Roman Brewer after he transitioned to the role of chairman back in May.
Speaking on the appointment, Brewer says Parker is a “perfect fit” for the firm and is backed by a “wealth of international payments experience from prominent global organisations” secured over his 20-year career in fintech and financial services.
Parker joins from Marqeta following his announcement last month that he was stepping down from his position as SVP and managing director, international at the California-headquartered card issuing firm.
Prior to joining Marqeta in September 2022, he was CEO of payments firm World First and has also served in leadership positions at JP Morgan, Accenture, Macquarie Bank and OFX.
Parker says his focus as CEO will be “on building Paymentology’s position as the global neo-processor of choice for fintechs, telcos, corporates and challenger banks”.
Earlier this year, the company partnered with Mexican banking fintech Fondeadora to expand payment services across the country, while Sharia-compliant cross-border bank Nomo also selected the firm for virtual card issuing and to boost its transaction processing and payment analytics processes.
