Revolut appoints former Molo chief Francesca Carlesi as new UK CEO
British challenger Revolut has appointed Francesca Carlesi, the former CEO of digital mortgage lender Molo, as its new UK CEO.
Carlesi, who will be stepping down from her post at Molo, a company she also co-founded, on 25 November, will lead Revolut NewCo UK starting from December. She will take over from James Radford, who quit the firm in March after spending three years as the fintech’s CEO of banking.
The appointment comes as Revolut continues to wait for its UK banking licence – which it first applied for in January 2021.
Carlesi has more than 15 years of experience working in finance, banking and fintech. Prior to founding Molo in London, she spent over three years as managing director, chief of staff and global head of regulatory affairs at Deutsche Bank.
Her earlier experience also includes stints at Intesa Sanpaolo, Barclays, Bridgepoint and McKinsey & Company.
Carlesi’s arrival at Revolut also follows the recent resignation of Kitty Ussher, former economic secretary to the UK treasury, who stepped down as non-executive director of the fintech’s board earlier this week to take up a new role at Barclays as managing director.
