Peel Hunt appoints Piya Khanna as new chief technology officer
UK-based investment bank Peel Hunt has named Piya Khanna as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
In her new role, Khanna will look to apply her two decades worth of experience in product development and infrastructure to lead all of the bank’s technological engagements.
At present, this includes the use of the bank’s proprietary technology in market making and the processing of trades and quotes. Peel Hunt is also working to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) as it bids to “make proprietary data even more valuable and further empower its sales teams”.
Founded in 1989 and headquartered in London, Peel Hunt has three core areas of focus: financial advisory and capital markets services, equity research and distribution, and execution services. The firm primarily caters to mid-cap and growth companies.
As announced in October 2022, the bank is intending to transition its retail investor platform REX into a standalone business, relaunching in H2 2023 under the rebranded identity of RetailBook.
Khanna has held several senior technology delivery roles with the likes of RBC Capital Markets, Standard Chartered Bank, and UBS Investment Bank prior to joining Peel Hunt. Most recently, she led the global markets division of the French corporate and investment bank Crédit Agricole as managing director and head of the technology and process group.
She is to replace the bank’s current CTO of 14 years, Aaqib Mirza, who is to transition into the role of CEO for the soon-to-be-launched RetailBook business.
