Paytech Medius taps acquired Expensya talent for two new senior appointments
Business spend management fintech Medius has tapped its acquisition of the expense management software company Expensya to fill two senior positions on its executive team.
The first appointment concerns Karim Jouini, former chief executive officer of Expensya, who is to become the chief product and technology officer of Medius.
Medius has tasked Jouini to head its innovation strategy and guide the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the payments, procurement, sourcing, contract and supplier onboarding functions outlined in its product suite.
He previously managed Expensya’s employee spend management solution and brings 17 years of technology experience to the position, including his almost 10-year tenure with his previous company.
The second appointment is of Ahmed Fessi, who will transition from Expensya’s chief information officer to chief transformation and information officer of Medius.
In his new role, Fessi will focus on providing an “integrated and optimised data-driven culture” with an emphasis on cybersecurity, and is expected to leverage 15 years of experience AI, data, transformation, and cybersecurity in delivering this task.
If successful, Fessi anticipates that it will help the company “enhance collaboration, improve our operational efficiencies, and optimise our processes”.
When the acquisition was announced in June, Medius said that its ambition was to complement its existing services in the areas of autonomous accounts payable, payments, procurement, sourcing, contracts and supplier onboarding with Expensya employee spend management solution.
In its latest statement, it recognises the delivery of this ambition as “a key focus” for its two new hires, while Medius chief executive officer, Jim Lucier, describes the appointments as “integral to our growth and transformation goals”.
“Both hold invaluable experience and will bring a considered and ambitious approach to their new roles,” adds Lucier.
