Tarabut Gateway names Tariq Sanad as new CFO
Dubai-based open banking platform Tarabut Gateway has appointed Middle East and North Africa (MENA) start-up veteran Tariq Sanad as its new chief financial officer (CFO).
With over 20 years of experience in the finance sector of the MENA region, Tarabut Gateway says Sanad excels “particularly in scaling growth start-ups post-Series A” – relevant for the firm as it raised $32 million in Series A funding this May.
Sanad joins from Pure Harvest Smart Farms, a tech-enabled sustainable agribusiness and one of the highest funded start-ups in MENA, where he served as CFO since 2020. In his previous roles, he has also served as the chief marketing officer (CMO) and VP of finance at Careem, the MENA region’s first unicorn and super-app.
Abdulla Almoayed, founder and CEO at Tarabut Gateway, says Sanad’s “exceptional track record and leadership as a finance and marketing leader gives him deep expertise and insight into the intricacies of a growing business operation”, helping the firm as it eyes a region-wide expansion.
Commenting on his appointment, Sanad says: “Open banking is one of the most promising sectors in the region, brimming with opportunities, particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Tarabut Gateway’s recent hires include Chun Ong as new chief operating officer (COO), former HSBC head of open banking, Nino Ocampo, as chief product officer and OpenWrks co-founder, Mitul Sudra, as chief technology officer (CTO).
