Chris Rigoni to head BaaS operations at Coastal Community Bank
Coastal Community Bank has appointed Chris Rigoni as executive vice president and head of operations of its Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) division, CCBX.
Rigoni moves from Webster Bank, where he also looked after the company’s BaaS business for one and a half years. Before that, he held a similar role at Sterling National Bank for a year.
He also previously worked at BBVA Compass (a former US subsidiary of Spain’s banking group BBVA, sold to PNC Financial Services in 2020) and digital tech specialist Endava.
Washington-based Coastal Community Bank has 14 branches and nearly $3 billion in assets.
It has been an early adopter of BaaS, having launched a dedicated division in 2015.
In 2020, it became one of the 11 banks chosen by tech giant Alphabet to work on Google Plex, a digital checking account within Google Pay (the project was subsequently shelved).
It was also selected by Walmart to work on the development of the retailer’s new digital checking account proposition.
