Wise Platform inks first Japan deal with GMO Aozora Net Bank
Wise Platform, global money transfer firm Wise’s infrastructure offering for banks and non-banks, has signed its first Japanese partnership with GMO Aozora Net Bank.
GMO Aozora Net Bank launched its online banking business in 2018, and says it received a “high volume” of requests from corporate customers for a fast and inexpensive overseas remittance service.
With Wise Platform, GMO Aozora Net Bank’s customers will be able send international payments in eight currencies to 28 countries and regions including the US, UK, China, Australia and Singapore.
The bank’s corporate customers will be able to access the service from their internet banking platform at any time of day and throughout the year, with payments being completed in “as little as two minutes”.
“International remittances remain a heavy burden for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with limited resources,” remarks Steve Naude, head of Wise Platform.
“Through this partnership, SMEs using GMO Aozora Net Bank will be able to enjoy Wise’s fast, transparent and convenient international money transfer service at lower rates than traditional providers.”
GMO Aozora Net Bank is Wise Platform’s fifth banking partner in Asia alongside Hong Kong’s ZA Bank, Indonesia’s Bank Mandiri, Singapore’s Aspire and South Korea’s Shinhan Bank.
