Payments platform Dwolla names Lawrence Herman as CFO
Payments platform Dwolla has appointed a new chief financial officer (CFO), Lawrence Herman, and two board members, Alka Gupta and Millicent Tracey.
Dwolla intends to leverage their expertise and knowledge to scale, develop and deploy new solutions, and utilise their strategic guidance.
Dwolla CEO Brady Harris says the trio “bring a wealth of experience and expertise in fintech, payments, emerging technologies, strategy, and compliance that will help us continue to scale and achieve our vision”.
Herman joins Dwolla from Accrete, an AI machine learning company, where he was CFO. He has “extensive experience” leading global finance teams across payments, cryptocurrency, blockchain, fintech, and AI SaaS.
Prior to Accrete, Herman was senior vice president and head of finance at Paxful, a global cryptocurrency marketplace and P2P remittance platform, where he drove 60% annual revenue growth in his first year.
He also has over 10 years of experience in finance leadership and strategic planning roles at Mastercard and American Express.
As a new member of Dwolla’s board of directors, Gupta brings an “extensive background” in fintech, payments, marketplaces and identity, Dwolla says, “and has been a driving force behind key disruptions in search, ecommerce, mobile and blockchain at both public and early-stage companies”.
Tracey has been a financial services executive for more than two decades, and has “proven expertise in digital payments transformation”, Dwolla says.
At Wells Fargo she contributed to the bank’s commercial banking portal and banking as a service platform, where she led the launch of several B2B payments APIs, including same-day ACH, RTP, and account validation.
