US paytech Sionic names ex-PayPal exec Susan Currey as chief compliance officer
Sionic, a US-based provider of digital payment solutions, has appointed Susan Currey as its new chief compliance officer (CCO), effective immediately.
Currey brings more than 15 years of risk and compliance management experience to the role and has previously worked for both banks and fintechs.
She joins Sionic from PayPal, where she led a global team focusing on consumer compliance, financial crime, operational and information security and privacy reviews.
In her new role, Currey will be tasked with evaluating risk for various business initiatives and establishing corporate governance and regulatory frameworks for Sionic’s payments platform.
Currey will also be responsible for developing and executing risk and compliance management and testing programmes at the firm.
Speaking on her appointment, Currey says she is joining the company at what is “a pivotal moment in the payments industry”.
Founded in 2010 and based in Atlanta, Sionic provides faster digital payments through instant bank-to-bank transfers. It also operates Verified Rapid Payments services, enabling financial institutions participating in the RTP Network and upcoming FedNow rails to offer their customers Pay-by-Bank services at point of sale.
