National Bank of Pakistan turns to Autosoft for Bahrain operation
Long-standing Pakistan-based financial systems supplier, Autosoft Dynamics, has gained a deal for the Bahrain operation of existing user, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), writes Martin Whybrow.
The system will automate NBP’s wholesale banking branch in Manama. Also part of the mix are Autosoft’s Autocredit for corporate loans, Adams, for treasury automation, Autotrade for trade finance, and Auto MIS for management information reporting.
There was a competitive system selection before NBP made its choice. This included a detailed technical analysis of the Autosoft suite and financial assessment of the company, combined with assessing its ability to meet NBP’s wholesale banking operations requirements.
Among the benefits being sought within the project is the ability to swiftly configure and launch new products. Shakeel Raza Abidi, NBP’s head of IT operations, cites the integrated nature of the different Autosoft modules as allowing “a seamless user experience”.
Sadia Khan, CEO of Autosoft Dynamics, says there was “intense competition” for the deal. Autosoft’s “fast track implementation methodology should allow the bank to be up and running in the shortest possible time”, she adds.
The Manama branch was NBP’s first offshore operation, opening in 1979. Its stated aim is to be the pre-eminent financial institution in Bahrain and to achieve market recognition both in quality and delivery of service as well as in its range of product offerings.
