Monese enables Google Pay with PrePay Solutions
Payments solutions provider PrePay Solutions (PPS) has partnered with Monese to allow the customers of the UK challenger bank to use Google Pay to make payments.
Monese customers can now add their prepaid Monese debit cards to their Google Pay accounts, and make contactless payments using Android devices.
This is PPS’ debut in the UK, which also delivers Google Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay in France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Poland and the Czech Republic.
The addition of the new feature builds on PPS’ existing service proposition for Monese, which includes the provision of Mastercard cards and direct debit capability.
“Since launching our first mobile payments solution in 2001, we’ve been committed to driving the migration of digital payments across Europe and beyond,” says Ray Brash, CEO of PrePay Solutions.
The firm believes that no other payments organisation is currently delivering mobile wallet functionality on such a vast scale. It has also said it is “launching in new geographies before the end of the year”.
Monese also announced the launch of Smart Transactions in April 2018.
The banking service, which launched in 2015, recently reached the 600,000 users mark.
Monese secured this month $60 million in capital giving it some handy oomph to fuel its international banking ambitions.
Just a couple of weeks before, it started offering student accounts.
