Green Dot Teams Up with Celebrity Steve Harvey (Oct. 8, 2015)
Steve Harvey will be promoting all products issued by Green Dot Bank as part of a multiyear marketing partnership, Green Dot announced today. Harvey, who is a comedian, television host, radio personality, actor and author, will serve as celebrity spokesperson and brand ambassador. Green Dot has been a sponsor of Harvey’s top-rated daytime syndicated talk show since 2013, and the company also is now featured in “Family Feud,” the long-running game show hosted by Harvey.
Green Dot and Harvey are teaming up to promote Green Dot Bank’s products and services nationwide in a brand campaign that will include POS materials at retail, advertising, public relations, social media and original content creation, according to the company. The partnership also will include product integrations featuring the Green Dot and GoBank brands into several of Harvey’s television and radio shows that reach a combined audience of approximately 50 million people.
“Steve is incredibly relatable and charismatic and is widely recognized for supporting programs that make a difference in the lives of everyday people, which aligns perfectly with our mission to reinvent personal banking for the masses,” said Steve Streit, Green Dot chairman and CEO.
Notable celebrities, including Magic Johnson and Suze Orman, shuttered their own prepaid cards in 2014 after splashy debuts. However, one of the longest-running prepaid programs, RushCard, is backed by hip-hop and fashion mogul Russell Simmons.
