Discover Financial Services has a new head of prepaid, Amit Parikh, who is responsible for overseeing prepaid sales and relationship management. Parikh, who has been with Discover more than 12 years, also serves as director of global business development. In his tenure at Discover, he has worked in a variety of roles, including technology architecture and investor relations during the 2007 Morgan Stanley spinoff and subsequent IPO. Parikh also served for three years as chief of staff to then-CIO Diane Offereins, who is now head of payments. He was instrumental in establishing the RuPay net-to-net relationship as well as the Facebook gift card program. Although newer to the role, Parikh already has become a thought leader in the prepaid space, moderating a panel at this year’s NBPCA Power of Prepaid conference.
