Retail ATM network Cardtronics Inc. has announced that Jerry Garcia is transitioning from his role as chief information officer to the newly created position of chief information security officer. Garcia, who spent the last 10 years designing and developing the information technology systems Cardtronics uses to run its business, now will focus exclusively on Cardtronics’ information security program. Mike McCarthy has been hired to fill Garcia’s previous post, and he is responsible for the company’s IT infrastructure, design and implementation of IT solutions. McCarthy is a 15-year veteran of the financial services industry, and was most recently senior vice president and chief information officer serving the credit card and retail payments businesses at FIS. Garcia and McCarthy report directly to Cardtronics CEO Steve Rathgaber.
