Sky Bank in front-to-back office tech revamp with Finastra
Ukraine-based Sky Bank (formerly Region-Bank) is replacing its legacy systems with Finastra’s Fusiobanking Essence platform.
“We’re changing the way we approach banking and to make this happen we are overhauling our IT operations, investing in modern and flexible technology that will give us a competitive edge,” states Arif Babayev, chairman at Sky Bank.
“We surveyed the market extensively and we are confident that we have made the right choice in Finastra,” he says, adding that the vendor “is well known for its pioneering approach to transformation”.
Sky Bank was founded in 1991. It changed its shareholders and name (from Region-Bank) earlier this summer.
The new owner, Babayev, is a Kazakh businessman and former MD of one of the largest banks in Kazakhstan, Kazkommertsbank. “We are making a large investment in IT systems,” Babayev said at the acquisition announcement in July.
Sky Bank offers retail and commercial banking products and services to domestic customers.
Finastra – formerly known as Misys – has one earlier customer in Ukraine, First Ukrainian International Bank (FUIB). FUIB signed for the Fusionbanking Equation core banking system five years ago.
