SolarisBank selects SIA to launch contactless payment cards in Germany
Banking platform SolarisBank has chosen Italy-based SIA to support the launch of new contactless debit cards and to contribute to the development of electronic payment solutions in Germany.
SIA’s technology platform will manage the processing of transactions made using payment cards issued by the bank for its clients.
The infrastructure, supporting the launch of new NFC debit cards, will include a service for the prevention and management of fraud, disputes and chargebacks. There is also a secure authentication tool for all online transactions.
Jörg Howein, chief product officer of SolarisBank, says with its “experience and know-how, SIA is a great partner” and the partnership is “representative of our approach of including first-class companies on our banking platform”.
There are no specific dates yet, but SIA says it will also shortly make available to SolarisBank more products and services like payment cards in other currencies and issuing in various countries.
We’re busy
Both SolarisBank and SIA have been busy with their own separate developments.
SolarisBank partnered with peer-to-peer lending provider Lendico for a long-term collaboration for financing SME loans. It also teamed with Hufsy, a Denmark-based fintech start-up focused on SMEs, for its expansion into Germany.
Last month, Jiffy – the instant mobile payments service developed by SIA – became available in over 150 outlets in Milan, Rome and Turin. In addition, the Central Bank of Iceland (CBI) chose SIA to implement and support a new real-time gross settlement system (RTGS) and new instant payment platform.
