WhatsApp to introduce payments feature
Facebook-owned messenger app WhatsApp submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Programme, which will make payments available in the app’s new version (2.17.295), according to online portal WABetaInfo.
“This update does not include visible features and changes, but there is a hidden preview about a future feature in WhatsApp,” it says.
The next step in the app’s development will be the introduction of payments – “that should be available when all business services are released for all users”.
According to the official WhatsApp payments section for Android, “the immediate bank to bank transfer with UPI” is under development. To use WhatsApp payments, users will have to accept the WhatsApp payments and bank terms and privacy policy.
