Build your own app with TCS Bancs kit
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has unveiled its Bancs app development kit (ADK) to let banks design and build their own apps.
The firm says the ADK enables financial institutions to build their digital offerings without the need for mobile development skills. The ADK comes with its own array of widgets, controls and components; and the bank can add their existing or new widgets.
Sathish Vallat, head of TCS Bancs Digital, says: “We envision apps to supplant browser-based interfaces — not just on mobile phones, tablets, kiosks, internet of things (IoT)-connected devices, but also on desktop PCs in a single code base.”
Other features of the ADK include drag-and-drop and adapters to build, configure, and roll-out apps that work with core banking and other systems.
The pre-built widgets and components are based on a data model “inspired by interactive financial exchange (IFX) which allows users to gain an easy understanding of the widgets and their configurability”.
We are not alone
The trouble with ideas is that most people have similar things on their mind.
Last year, Swiss vendor Avaloq opened up to developers with a new online portal. It said freelancers, start-ups, fintechs and banks will be able to innovate jointly using the portal. Uses include building applications integrated with the Avaloq Banking Suite.
