Iraq’s Qi Card partners with Ant International to launch SuperQi app
Iraqi fintech Qi Card has partnered with tech giant Ant International to launch its new SuperQi app, designed to advance the company’s goal of building a “cashless Iraq”, according to chairman Bahaa Abdulhussein.
The new offering, first introduced in July, is being powered by Alipay+ Wallet Tech solutions and integrates a digital lifestyle super-app with a fully functional digital bank, with the company aiming to introduce “a new era of financial inclusion and digital services to Iraq”.
Founded in 2007, Qi Card, also known as International Smart Card ISC, provides debit and credit cards as well as electronic payment solutions via its app. It currently claims to support over 11 million cardholders and five million mobile app users.
The SuperQi app, available in Arabic, English, and Kurdish, provides a wide range of services, including loans, instalment plans, scan-to-pay, money transfers, mobile recharges, and bill payments, as well as shopping, travel, and other payment solutions.
Ali Muneam, CEO of Qi Card, states the launch of SuperQi is a “milestone in Iraq’s journey towards a cashless society”, adding that by “bridging the gap for millions who still rely on cash transactions, SuperQi is not just a financial solution, but a key step in modernising our nation’s economy”.
Looking ahead, Qi Card plans to reach over 30% of Iraq’s population by 2026, aiming for more than 15 million app users within the next three years.
