Former Uber CFO Nelson Chai joins DailyPay board as executive chair
DailyPay, a US-based provider of on-demand pay solutions for corporates, has hired former Uber CFO Nelson Chai as its new executive chair.
In a statement, the paytech says Chai will “provide strategic guidance to the organisation” in his new position, as well as lead its board of directors.
This board currently comprises CEO Stacy Greiner, RPM Ventures MD Adam Boyden, Intercept Ventures MD Andy Sessions, Carrick Capital Partners chief Jim Madden, NationsBenefits CFO Scott Parker, former Headspace exec CeCe Morken, and Brett Pitts, former North America head of treasury and payments at BMO Financial Group.
DailyPay will sit alongside Chai’s existing appointments on the boards of insurance provider Chubb and biotech company Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he also serves as chairman of the audit committee.
Chai joins the DailyPay board following a five-year tenure as CFO of Uber, where he is credited for guiding the company’s 2019 IPO and subsequent path to profitability.
Prior to this, he served as CEO of Warranty Group, president of CIT Group, and CFO of Merrill Lynch, Euronext and Archipelago Holdings.
Founded in 2015, DailyPay claims its selection of a new executive chair comes “on the heels of the most successful year in company history”, when it “expanded its reach through multiple product and market expansions”.
The company commenced 2024 with a new $1.75 billion pre-money valuation, following a fresh $75 million equity financing round led by Carrick Capital Partners and a $100 million credit facility expansion secured with Citi.
Greiner, who ascended from COO to CEO in June, later highlighted the growing importance of earned wage access in the workplace during an interview with FinTech Futures at Money20/20 USA 2024.
