Swedish neobank Northmill appoints Emil Folkesson as new CFO
Stockholm-headquartered digital bank Northmill has named former Intrum exec Emil Folkesson as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective immediately.
Folkesson brings over 15 years of experience to Northmill, and has previously led “strategic initiatives” in areas such as “capital acquisition, implementation of growth strategies, and financial restructuring,” the company says.
He joins Northmill from Swedish credit management firm Intrum, where he has served as interim CFO since February.
Folkesson spent more than five years at Intrum between 2016 and 2021, holding roles such as group director of treasury and investor relations, before joining private equity company Ratos as head of group treasury. He rejoined Intrum in 2022 as group director investor relations and head of CFO office.
Julie Chatterjee, who was appointed as CEO of Northmill in October, states Folkesson’s “competence, experience and personality make him an ideal match – both strategically and culturally – to help drive the growth journey we are on”.
Founded in 2006, Northmill offers both retail and business banking services to customers throughout Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Poland. Its services include savings accounts, payment cards, real-time payments, and an array of lending offerings.
Earlier this month, Northmill says it became the “first Swedish bank to offer payments through RIX-INST,” the new real-time bank payment infrastructure developed by Sweden’s central bank, Riksbank.
