Santander taps Japan’s Dentsu to build new SME international trade platform
Santander Corporate and Commercial Banking has enlisted Dentsu, a Tokyo-headquartered business transformation firm, to design and build a new international growth platform aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Dentsu says the new platform will aim to “simplify international trade for the world’s SME community,” offering users access to “everything they need to enter a new market with confidence”.
Scheduled for a Q2 2025 release, Dentsu adds the platform will equip users with key market knowledge, exclusive discounts, and tailored services to help “break down trade barriers”.
Over the next five years, the solution will be introduced to 45 markets globally, including 10 of the bank’s core markets.
Dentsu says it will oversee the platform’s “design, build, operations, and marketing,” with the solution set to be powered by the company’s technology partners including Adobe, Amazon, and Salesforce.
The news comes in the wake of Santander launching its digital subsidiary, Openbank, in the US and Mexico in recent weeks.
