Netherlands-based Intersolve names Five Degrees co-founder Martijn Hohmann as provisional CEO
Former Five Degrees exec Martijn Hohmann has been named as the new provisional CEO of Dutch EMI Intersolve, effective 1 November 2024.
Hohmann takes the reins of the payment processor, which specialises in gift cards, loyalty and payment solutions, from managing director André Moen.
Intersolve’s statement on the appointment, posted on LinkedIn, says Hohmann will focus on “product innovation and other business development”.
Moen adds that the new provisional CEO will “play a significant role in the next phase of growth and internationalisation of both the gift card and loyalty market, as well as the embedded finance services surrounding our EMI licence”.
Intersolve secured its European EMI licence from De Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch central bank, in 2019, which it currently leverages to complete settlements and manage funds.
More recently, the service provider inked a network integration deal with Visa last month to begin issuing its own white-label Visa debit and prepaid cards as a Visa Principal member.
At the time, Moen said the integration of the Visa network into the Intersolve programmable money platform would enable “lots of extra control and functionality” for its merchant and government customers while marking “an important step of our international expansion in Europe”.
Hohmann is expected to enrich these expansion efforts with his “wealth of experience in the financial sector”, Intersolve’s statement continues.
He joins Intersolve following a 14-year tenure as the CEO of Amsterdam-based core banking platform Five Degrees, which he co-founded in 2009. Prior to this, he worked a variety of leadership roles at €380 billion-asset Dutch banking giant ABN Amro, including SVP of sales development.
Speaking on his latest appointment, Hohmann states: “We have big plans and ideas for the future but in the next few months my main focus is to familiarise myself with the ins and outs of Intersolve.”
