Mesa debuts homeowners credit card, offering rewards on mortgage and home expenses
US-based homeowner membership platform Mesa has unveiled the Mesa Homeowners Card, a new premium credit card offering that rewards customers for mortgage repayments and home-related purchases.
Issued by Celtic Bank with zero annual membership fees, the card allows customers to earn ‘Mesa Points’ on various purchases, including car fuel, home maintenance and utilities.
Accrued points can then be redeemed against statement credits, gift cards, travel experiences, mortgage repayments and other benefits Mesa claims are “worth over $800 in value”.
In a statement, Mesa says the offering’s debut aims to address “a long-standing gap in the credit card market, where mortgage payments – typically a homeowner’s largest monthly expense – have historically gone unrewarded”.
“Premium credit cards have traditionally catered to urban travellers with benefits centred around travel and dining, like TSA PreCheck and lounge access. But there is a major gap for programmes designed for the homeowner, whose spending habits and lifestyles have changed,” comments Tina Moore, head of commercial at Mesa.
The launch follows a $9.2 million Streamlined Ventures-led seed funding round closed by Mesa in September, with customers now being invited to join a waitlist through Mesa’s mobile app.
