Singapore Gulf Bank strengthens C-Suite ahead of launch
Singapore Gulf Bank (SGB) has named former Goldman Sachs Saudi Arabia chief Ali AlShamma as its new CFO, while Elaine Leong, formerly of Sygnum, joins as COO.
AlShamma, who has previously held the CFO position for the Saudi divisions of both Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, has been entrusted with leading SGB’s financial strategy and connecting markets across Asia and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Meanwhile, Leong has been tasked with leading SGB’s global operations. She has acted as Sygnum’s Singapore COO for the past three years, and counts State Street, Citi, and GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, among her professional experiences to date.
SGB, which is backed by Singapore-based investment firm Whampoa Group and Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat, is gearing up to launch by November 2024.
The bank aims to integrate traditional and digital finance by offering a single platform for users to manage both asset types.
