Erste Group in Austria partners Salt Edge for CEE multi-banking services
Erste Group, one of the largest financial service providers in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), has tapped UK-based open banking solutions provider Salt Edge to offer multi-banking services to both its retail and corporate clients.
The bank is leveraging the vendor’s account information solution to enable users to connect third-party bank accounts from Romania and Austria with its retail banking app George.
Salt Edge is also integrating its solutions with the ErsteConnect API, providing a “single, secure access point for managing finances across Erste and other banks in the CEE region”, according to the vendor’s statement.
The API supports both account information and payment initiation services, while connecting corporate clients with 71 banks across the CEE region in total.
These banks will now not have to be individually onboarded and maintained by Erste as a result of Salt Edge’s “extensive connectivity” in the region, the statement continues.
Headquartered in Vienna, Erste currently operates a network of corporate and retail banking services for 16.4 million customers throughout CEE, and recorded total assets of €344 billion in H1 2024.
The group adds to a growing roster of CEE-focused clients for Salt Edge, which previously announced a partnership with Moldova’s Moldindconbank in June.
