Karl Mattson named Endor Labs’ first chief information security officer
Endor Labs, a California-based provider of open-source software security, has appointed long-time specialist Karl Mattson as the firm’s first chief information security officer (CISO).
Mattson brings extensive experience as a CISO, having previously held the position at Noname Security, a company specialising in API and application security that US software developer Akamai recently acquired.
Before his switch to the software security sector, Mattson held several leadership roles in the financial services industry, most notably for PennyMac Financial Services and City National Bank.
Commenting on the company’s new position, Varun Badhwar, co-founder and CEO of Endor Labs, states: “The role of CISO is always critical, but it takes on even greater importance at a security-focused venture like ours.”
“Besides keeping our own systems safe, Karl in many ways represents the voice of our largest customers and will help us better serve them.”
Founded in 2021, Endor Labs claims to have developed the first open-source dependency lifecycle management platform to “help OSS consumers select, secure and maintain dependencies effectively”.
Mattson joins a wave of recent CISO appointments in the fintech sector, including Neil Acworth at UK-based regtech Encompass Corporation, Bronwyn Boyle at digital payments infrastructure firm PPRO, and Gary Delaney as international CISO at BNY.
