Indonesia’s Krom Bank taps AWS Cloud for digital banking upgrade
Krom Bank, the Indonesian subsidiary of Singapore-based Kredivo Group, is launching digital banking services hosted through its extended partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Using a combination of AWS Cloud, GenAI and other managed services, Krom Bank shall boost its efforts to provide new services to underbanked Indonesians, including facial recognition, e-KYC, and other tailored offerings.
“AWS provides the flexibility we need to rapidly evolve our suite of financially-inclusive mobile banking services, making them engaging and easy to use,” explains Krom Bank president director Anton Hermawan.
“Cloud technology helps us deliver innovative and secure financial services to Indonesia’s youth and previously underserved part of Indonesia’s population,” Hermawan continues.
“Krom Bank benefits from being hosted in the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region, enabling us to meet local regulatory requirements while serving end-users with lower latency.”
The bank already leverages Amazon Aurora for its database, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) for its mobile app, and Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Rekognition for machine learning and fraud prevention.
Furthermore, the bank’s core banking ledger is powered by the Dutch Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud banking platform Mambu, which enables its lending products as an AWS advanced technology partner.
Moving forward, Krom Bank says it plans to continue utilising its partnership with AWS, and particularly the foundation models contained in Amazon Bedrock, to “enhance its customer experience including chatbot and virtual assistance”.
